Leadership

Dr Iris Choi CPhys MInstP is the Director of Solaris Consulting. She is an expert in government-level technology strategies and investments.

Dr Choi was the gold medallist of the 2001 Physics Olympiad. She attended the University College Cork, Ireland (founded in 1845, formerly the Queen’s College, Cork) and was a recipient of the Irish State Scholarship.

She has a PhD in Quantum Communications and a BSc in Physics (1st class honours) from University College Cork, Ireland. After completing her PhD, she joined semiconductor giant Oclaro Inc as a R&D engineer, focusing on athermal laser development.

In 2011, she joined Toshiba Research Europe Ltd. (Cambridge, UK) to lead the world’s first DWDM quantum communication field trial. Later, she joined the National Quantum Computing Hub (NQIT) in the University of Oxford as their Technology Associate. She successfully formed many industrial partnerships for the National Quantum Computing Hub. These partnerships helped develop and form use cases for the emerging quantum technologies.

In 2018, she was appointed as the Strategy Planning Manager for the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKSTP). She led the microelectronics strategies work and conducted several critical consultancies for HKSTP and the Hong Kong government.

Now Dr Choi serves as Solaris Consulting’s Director. She leads a team of talented consultants and events managers to deliver top class technical consultancies, organise global technology study missions and connect investors with promising technologies.
